Hello! And thank you for asking about us here at St. Johns.
St John’s Church on Morgan Hill is an average sized non-denominational church in Williams Township, Easton, PA. We are a voluntary member of the Evangelical Association of Reformed and Congregational Christian Churches (EA). In our confirmation classes, we use the Heidelberg Confession and other historic documents that we inherited from back when St. John’s was a German Reformed church at the turn of the 20th century. We are a church conscious of our need to revitalize some aspects of our ministry, although we are very hopeful about it as God is faithful and has called us to share the gospel with our neighbors.
We are a bible believing church that holds to traditional protestant doctrines, and thankfully there are a lot of churches like that who we regard as coworkers and family in Christ. So if you asked the average member what their primary reason for attending St. John’s in particular is, most would say that’s because the church has always strove to have a relaxed and familiar atmosphere.
No church is perfect, but we strive to make sure anyone who comes to worship or play with us is welcomed warmly and included with respect.
Up until very recently the main thing that characterized St. John’s programming was multiple ministries aimed at families with a healthy multi-generational mindset. We like many churches are in a stage of having to rebuild some of that; however, the attitude of the church still reflects a mindset that values these efforts and makes them a priority.
For the last 30 years, Blake Hefner was the senior minister until his retirement in 2020. The church spent 2 years in the search process and now has installed a new minister Paul Leonard. His priorities as a new pastor are to try and maintain everything good at St. Johns and just make good things better.
But pastors come and go. The main thing that makes St. John’s St Johns is the people.
When you come to St. John’s you’ll be greeted with a heartfelt welcome. During the service our members will share their gifts and listen to one anthers prayer concerns. After the service everyone will gather for fellowship where new friendships are formed and old ones strengthened.
During the week, there are then many opportunities to serve and love our neighbors in the Easton Area that are available. While we are working on making this aspect of the church a bit more streamlined and easier for new people to join in with, St. John’s already has been active with many local non-profits in our area for decades and you can join us in making a difference in our town.
We also gather for different small groups that meet together just as friends to either study God’s word or break bread together in fellowship. We’ll always save you a seat!
